Daily Features
On my profile page, I feature a new deviation every day (or two or three). The piece is usually something that caught my eye. Could be an amazing digital painting, a fun stamp, a quick photograph that made me smile, perhaps a piece for a weekly theme, whatever. However, it moved me enough to share it with my visitors. ~~On Sunday, January 6th, I will be hosting a chat event!~~ Silly me forgetting that I have nothing to do on Friday.

New Day will be Friday, January 4th!

It will last for about 3 hours, and have tons of fun and games!

I got a schedule pretty much written out, and I'm working on getting a chat room booked.

~~I'm also looking for a Co-Host too. You don't need to do much, mainly you will just help me with judging art and help keep the chat room active.~~

I originally made my first OCtopi avatar back in March 2012 and over the past few months my commitment to commissions has slowly decreased and I've decided it it now time to officially close commissions.

The original purpose of the OCtopi commissions was to raise money for a new super group status for our community group #Emotication. Having bought 2 additional years, the remainder points have been stored up in a community fund, known as 'The OCtopi Fund'. These points have been put towards several community events including the monthly #WeEmote chat events.

PE: How to Make a Large EmoticonHow to Make a Large Emoticon

I have been asked many times how I make my big emoticons. How I shade it, dither it, etc, so I am going to make a step by step tutorial on how I make large emoticons.

Even if you already know how to, you might find something useful in this.

Be aware that I am using photoshop elements 3.0, so this technique can be preformed in almost any program that has layers and custom pencil brush sizes and or a hollow and filled circle tool. If your program doesn't have layers or adjustable circles of any kind (whether it be the pencil tool or the circle tool), you should be able to get around it somehow, but if you can't figure it out, I would recommend gimp. It works on Macs, Windows, or Linux computers. You can get a free download at gimp.org.

Start by making a hollow circle. The color of it should be a really dark shade of the color you want the emote to be. I'm making a blue emote, so

Chat get togethers every Saturday!For every Saturday in 2013, there will be get togethers in the #WeEmote chatroom! These are not necessarily chat events. They'll simply be days to hang out and get to know each other! There won't be any specific times. Just stop by and say hello! If everyone makes an effort in the community to come and chat, at least for a little while, then I'm sure that everyone will have a great time!
Our chatroom is usually very lonely if there isn't a chat event but we hope to change this and get our community really interacting with each other again on a level other than acquaintance. Come to the chat to ask for advice, find inspiration, and most importantly to make friends! Don't be shy!

As you probably know, this will coincide with some of our future chat events. Not to worry though, we will continue to have Saturday chat events so stay tuned for updates.
